VOITINSKII Vladimir Savel'evich (1885-1960). Konferentsiia s.-d. krestyanskih organizatsii Yamburgskogo uyezda Peterburgskoi gubernii. (From the party. The conference of s.-d. peasants' organisations in Yamburg district of Petersburg region.) Published without the name of the author in Moscow's Bolshevik journal "Proletarii", #16, 2 May 1907, p.7.
Voitinskii describes this conference in the beginning of March 1907, in which he participated. In the text "comrade S.P." (Sergei Petrov) is Voitinskii and "comrade S.D." is Stepan Derevenskii, s.-d. activist in Petersburg region, Menshevik, who invited Voitinskii to this conference to represent the p.v. of Petesburg s.-d. Party committee (dominated by Bolshevik wing) whose member Voitinskii was at the time.
The majority of the votes (118 against 44) were for the Bolshevik platform to the future [V] party congress.
(Voitinskii writes about this conference in the second volume of his memoirs, 1924, pp.177-184. Some facts were used in his novel "Na krestianskom s'ezde" //magazine "Sovremennik", 1914, kn.4, February, though the events in the novel were moved to winter 1907-08. Looking back, he thinks that was over-optimistic and took the mood of tiny revolutionary minority for the mood of the peasantry as a whole. Kostin, the auto-biographic hero of the novel, feels that s.-d. agrarian program is inadequate and that in countryside real problems and the way of thinking are out of reach of townspeople.)
